Tell President Obama: Arctic Drilling Is a Disgrace

Despite 1 million people calling for him to protect the Arctic Ocean from reckless offshore oil drilling, President Barack Obama has approved all the permits necessary for Shell Oil to sink its drills into the Arctic's pristine waters. Now this fragile ecosystem is vulnerable to the possibility of an oil spill that the best available technology -- regardless of Shell's assurances -- is not equipped to contain.

We should be outraged. Since 2007, we have successfully protected the Arctic Ocean from Shell's dirty drilling plans. Now President Obama has sold the future of already-endangered Arctic wildlife to the very industry that threatens their survival with climate change.

Our window to stop Shell from drilling this summer is closing, but we will not give up. We're doing everything possible in the courts, in Congress and in the halls of public opinion to mobilize against Arctic drilling. Even if Shell Oil drills this summer, we will fight on to protect the Arctic's sensitive wildlife, and we will continue to push to stop the Arctic oil rush.

Please use the form below to tell President Obama that you will not give up on the Arctic, and that you will continue to hold him accountable for the future of America's polar bears, seals and walruses.
