Tell the Federal Government: Don't Frack Our Public Lands
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is putting tens of thousands of acres of our majestic California public wildlands up for auction to oil and natural gas drilling and fracking. At the same time, industry is pushing BLM to weaken already inadequate draft regulations governing fracking.
A dangerous drilling technique that could poison California's water and air, fracking hurts both people and wildlife. It threatens our warming climate by releasing large quantities of methane -- an extremely potent greenhouse gas -- and making previously inaccessible fossil fuels available for combustion.
The Center for Biological Diversity is organizing a creative protest to tell the federal government: "Don't Frack Our Public Wildlands" on Feb. 1, and we need your support. We'll have hazmat suits with props representing fracking fluids for you to use.
