polar bear power is cooler than oil power
Save Endangered Species, Double Your Impact

Dear Center Supporter,

The Endangered Species Act is under attack like never before.

Right-wing congressmen are trying to kill it in Washington, D.C., while an international trophy-hunting group is using the courts to try to stop a government commitment to protect 757 imperiled plants and animals.

Please help us save America's most important wildlife-protection law by donating generously today to our Save the Endangered Species Act Fund. All donations made by Dec. 31 toward our $150,000 goal will be matched by one of our board members, making your gift twice as valuable.

Next week I'll be testifying for the Center for Biological Diversity before Congress about the importance of protecting polar bears, sea turtles, salmon, wolves, beluga whales and all 757 of the imperiled plants and animals we convinced the Department of the Interior to commit to this summer.

But it will take more than congressional testimony to save wolves being gunned down in Oregon, panthers having their habitat paved over in Florida, whales being threatened by oil rigs in Alaska and sea turtles drowning in fishing gear in California.

Industry groups smell blood and are throwing millions of dollars at congressmen to finally achieve the holy grail of anti-environmentalism: killing the Endangered Species Act.

We can save this bedrock law -- we did it before, when Rep. Richard Pombo waged a similar war in the 1990s -- but only with your help. Please donate as much as you can today to the Center's Save the Endangered Species Act Fund and a generous donor will match you dollar-for-dollar.

Here's the deal. The Center for Biological Diversity is all about action, and we know you are too. That's why we're not hawking wildlife calendars or fluffy stuffed animals made in China this holiday season. We'll spend your money -- 100 percent of it -- on hard-hitting conservation actions.

Your donation will pay for scientists to determine what help species need, lawyers to make the government follow its own laws and organizers to bring the weight of tens of thousands of pro-environment voices to bear in Washington, D.C., where they need to be heard.

In just the past month, we stopped the disastrous Keystone XL pipeline from crossing the entire country. We stopped wolves from being killed in Oregon. We beat back Alaska's attempt to strip protection from beluga whales. Now, with your help, we'll save hundreds of endangered species by saving the Endangered Species Act.

Thanks in advance for your support.

P.S. Your donation to the Center's Save the Endangered Species Act Fund will be matched in whole by a generous member of our board, making it worth twice as much. Help us reach $150,000 by December 31. Now is the best time to give as much as you can and double your impact.
